19 Tips That Will Help Your E-commerce Store Make More Money During The Holidays
A Blog About the Top 19 Ways to Increase E-commerce Store Sales During the Most Lucrative Time of the Year
The holiday season can be challenging if you're an e-commerce store owner. The competition is fierce, and shoppers have more options than ever before.
Hence, if you make sure your site is ready for the holiday shopping rush, you can make this time of year more profitable than ever. Follow these 19 steps to get your e-commerce store ready for the holiday shopping windfall.
Find out what your customers are looking for—and don't just take their word for it 🎁
You might have an idea of what products they buy most often, but maybe they've been eyeing something new lately and are just waiting to see if it'll go on sale before making their purchase.
If you know what people are interested in buying and when they're likely to buy it (and why), you can better prepare your site for the inevitable rush of traffic that comes with the holiday shopping season.
But what products should you be offering? And how do you know if they'll sell?
The answer is simple: Research.
There are several ways to do this, but one of our favorites is using tools like Google Trends and Insights Finder. These tools can help you find out which products people search for on Google, giving clues as to what they want to buy during the holidays.
Let's say you sell snow globes—you could type "snow globe" into Google Trends and see what comes up. If there are spikes in searches around certain times (like around Christmas), that might indicate that people are looking for snow globes during those times.
Set a holiday sales goal 🎄
A sales goal is the first step in preparing for the holidays. Create a realistic target for your sales volume and profits—and ensure it's in line with what you need to achieve your overall business goals.
Your holiday sales goal will also help you determine which resources can help you get there successfully.
For example, if your goal is $1 million in revenue during the holidays, but your website isn't generating enough traffic to support that volume then you'll need to amp up your marketing campaigns with additional SEO efforts to drive traffic (and boost sales) directly from search engines.
Figure out your cutoff shipping dates to send products during the holidays 🎅
You should also be aware of your shipping cutoff dates. These days, you will stop processing new orders that must be shipped out before Christmas. You may have different cutoff dates for each country, as well as for products within a category.
For example, if someone in China orders an item that has to be shipped by air and another person in France wants to order something that can go by sea, then their shipping cutoffs will likely differ even though they're both buying from the same store.
The final thing to consider is how many orders you'll receive before Christmas and how many shipments are already coming from warehouses or manufacturers.
Ensure you have enough supplies in stock
It's essential to have enough stock to meet the demand of your customers. If you run out of an item and can't deliver on time, you won't get a positive review from buyers and will lose sales.
So, how do you know when to order more stock? Integrate one of these inventory apps:

Regarding holiday promotions, it's important to remember that you want your customers to have a good experience.
