How To Start A Profitable E-Commerce Blog (In Less Than 24 Hours)
Most bloggers lose money. Not because they're bad at blogging, but because they do what everyone else does: Surf, share, chat, and post. But there's a better way to blog - a way to make you a full-time income. Here's how to get started.
Determine what you want your blog to do for you
First, ask yourself what your goals are for your blog. Do you want it to be an extension of your business? Are you hoping to grow an audience and become a thought leader? Or is this a personal space where you can share things that only make sense to you?
Once you have an idea of what kind of blog you want, think about what content will work best for that goal.
Do keyword research
Keyword research is finding out what people are searching for online. If you can get in front of these people with a blog post that offers them exactly what they're looking for, they'll be more likely to click on your content and buy whatever you're selling—for example, a product or service.
But how do you execute keyword research?
Head over to Google Keyword Planner. This free tool from Google will give you an idea of which keywords are popular and how many people search for them each month.
It also shows which words have the highest CPC (cost per click), indicating how much advertisers are willing to pay for their ads to appear when they search for those terms.
Once you've found a few keywords that seem promising, plug them into WordStream's Keyword Tool to see what kind of competition there is for each one.
