Clever Ways To Help Your E-Commerce Store Stand Out From The Crowd
The internet is a vast, complex, and ever-changing medium. One thing that remains constant across the web is its tendency to forget. Every day, countless links and posts are made, seen briefly by an audience before they're buried under new links and posts. Thankfully, there are ways to get noticed online—even in a world where nobody remembers anything. Want your e-commerce store to stand out from the crowd? Try the following tips:
Create a unique and memorable logo
Creating a memorable logo is critical for your E-commerce store. Your logo should be simple and memorable, clear and easy to read, appropriate for your target audience, consistent across all your marketing materials, unique to you (unless you're creating a parody), and even more important than that: it needs to be memorable!
If you can create an iconic design that sticks in the minds of potential customers every time they see it—and if that design looks good on black t-shirts or white t-shirts or any other kind of shirt imaginable—then congratulations: You've got yourself an unforgettable brand.
Choose the right color scheme
After choosing your focus keyword and the products you'll be selling, it's time to pick a color scheme. This is important because it will help drive traffic to your store. Your color scheme should be easy to read and consistent with your brand, products, and logo; it should also look good on mobile devices. Integrate an engaging store layout
So, what do you want your customers to do when they visit your store? Answer that question, and then make it easy for them to follow through. Your design layout should be clean and simple. Navigating from page to page should be straightforward, intuitive, and not confusing or overwhelming.
You want visitors to know exactly what each button does before clicking on it—make sure the buttons are labeled well! Use clear calls-to-action (CTA) buttons, so people know what you want them to do next: Shop Now or Sign Up For Our Newsletter, for example.
Write a unique and informative About Us page
The About Us page is critical to your e-commerce store. It's where audiences learn about the company, its history, and values, how it came to be, what drives them and what inspires them. All of this information helps people feel like they know you better.
The best About Us pages are short but informative. A great way to start is by writing a short bio that introduces each team member—their names, job descriptions, and why they're passionate about what they do at your e-commerce store. If possible, include a photo of the person so visitors can put faces with names (and trust me: this matters). For example:
Founder Name Bio - "My name is Steve Smith, and I founded ABC Company in 2011 with my husband John Smith after we experienced first-hand how hard it was for our friends who had kids but also worked full-time jobs outside the home."
Team Member Name Bio - "I'm Anna Johnson from ABC Company's customer service team; I love helping customers solve problems so they have an amazing shopping experience!"
Magic Spoon and Yeti offer two examples of engaging and informative “About Us” pages. As you can see, they don’t have to be long and drawn out–they only need to be effective.
